Samsung and Google gave us our first look at their smart glasses earlier today. The two companies have partnered to create the worldâs first smart glasses running Android XR and built around Gemini. The smart glasses will be offered in partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
While many people may already be familiar with Warby Parker because of its retail presence around the world, some of you may not know much about Gentle Monster. So, who exactly is Gentle Monster?
Gentle Monster’s eyewear are known for their bolder look
Gentle Monster is a South Korean luxury eyewear brand known for its bold and fashion-forward designs. The company was founded by Jay Oh and Hankook Kim in 2011 and has become famous for the immersive art installations featured inside its flagship stores worldwide.
Gentle Monsterâs eyewear has been worn by several global celebrities, including Beyoncé, Felix from Stray Kids, Gigi Hadid, Jennie from BLACKPINK, and Rihanna.
The company has helped redefine the luxury eyewear market by operating more like an art collective than a traditional eyewear retailer. To keep the brand experience feeling fresh, Gentle Monster reportedly changes the environment and installations inside its stores every 21 days.
While brands such as Prada and Ray-Ban often create designs tailored for Western facial structures, Gentle Monster is known for oversized frames with low-bridge nose designs. These styles are popular in East and Southeast Asian markets because they create the appearance of a smaller face, a highly sought-after look in those regions.
Even the upcoming smart glasses developed in collaboration with Samsung feature Gentle Monsterâs signature bold styling and oversized design language.
Pricing for the smart glasses has not been announced yet. More information, including pricing details, is expected to be revealed in the coming months ahead of their launch in Fall 2026.
