The Fairphone Fairbuds XL are finally coming to the US

After launching across Europe and the UK on May 11, 2023, the highly repairable Fairphone Fairbuds XL over-ear headphones are finally coming to the US. This builds on strong growth in 2024 and a record-breaking Q3 performance in 2025. The latter saw 61% revenue growth compared to Q3 of last year, while audio products and spare parts grew 40% and 41%, respectively. Fairphone’s CEO, Raymond van Eck, states, “Our expansion comes at a time when the world is increasingly ready for a new kind of electronics industry, one built on transparency, repairability, and care for people and the planet.”
Currently, you can only replace the entire ear cup module and can’t upgrade the individual board inside.
For those unaware, the Fairphone Fairbuds XL are lauded for their minimal environmental footprint and repairability. For example, the main structural components are made of recycled aluminium, the casings include up to 80% recycled plastic, and the headphones are 100% e-waste neutral. Furthermore, you can replace the ear cushions, headband cover, battery, earcup covers, headband, headband base, speakers, and speaker-to-speaker cable with nothing but a single Philips screwdriver.
The Fairphone Fairbuds XL also come packed with industry-leading features. For example, they support USB-C audio, are IP54-rated, and include the aptX HD Bluetooth codec. You also receive 40mm dynamic drivers, up to 30 hours of battery life, and Multipoint connectivity. The headphones support Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Siri, and also feature three ANC modes baked in. You can use the intuitive joystick or the Fairbuds companion app (Android/ iOS) to control the latter.
You can replace the Fairbuds battery without any tools.
The Fairphone Fairbuds XL () will be available to purchase from Amazon US starting later in November 2025. The cans will reportedly have an RRP of $229.99 at launch.
