One UI 9 makes slight changes to alarm and timer designs

Now that Samsung has officially started rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update globally, it is time to shift our focus to some of the design changes the company could introduce with the One UI 9.0 update over the next couple of months. Samsung appears to be planning changes to the stock Clock app’s alarm and timer screens.

One UI 9 could bring UI design changes to alarm and timer screens

After digging through One UI 9, we noticed that Samsung has made the Dismiss button on the alarm screen bigger and placed the snooze time adjustment buttons inside a single container.

The company has also moved the snooze option slightly upward so that voice command hints no longer interfere with its visibility. In addition, the time on the alarm screen now appears larger, while the alarm text is displayed above the time instead of below it.

The timer screen has also been updated, although the changes are less significant. The timer text appears slightly larger, and the lines around the circular timer look darker and thicker compared to One UI 8.5.

The Cancel and Pause buttons are also slightly smaller, but they now feature a more pronounced shadow effect.

Samsung could introduce additional UI and UX changes to other stock One UI apps and system services with One UI 9.0. For example, a recent leak suggested that the media player widget in the Quick Panel features more colorful soundwave patterns, while the display brightness and volume sliders appear thicker.

The update could also bring more Now Nudge options, additional Bixby widgets, and Tap to Share support for Quick Share.

We expect to see the first official look at One UI sometime next month when Samsung could open the One UI 9.0 Beta Program for devices like the Galaxy S26 series and launch its beta version with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in July 2026.
