The Soundcore Aerofit 2 Pro are open earbuds that transform into ANC earbuds

TL;DR

  • The Aerofit Pro 2, despite being an open-back design, features adaptive ANC technology.
  • New Auto EQ feature for a more consistent sound, regardless of your environment.
  • Now has five adjustment levels for the ear hook position, from the previous four levels on the Aerofit 2.

Anker Soundcore announced the AeroFit 2 Pro at CES 2026, introducing a hybrid design that lets you choose between open-ear awareness and active noise cancelation—no second pair of earbuds required. The adjustable ear hook repositions the drivers from outside your ear canal to create a seal at the entrance, enabling both passive and active noise cancelation when you need it.

How the dual-mode system works

Two sensors in each earbud detect whether you’re wearing them in open-ear or sealed earbud mode, then automatically recalibrate the EQ to maintain consistent sound performance. In open mode, the earbuds sit outside your ear canal, letting ambient sound pass through naturally. Adjust the ear hook inward, and the drivers seal against your ear canal entrance, switching to earbud mode with full ANC capabilities.

The ear hook now offers five adjustment positions, up from the four found on the AeroFit 2, providing more flexibility to find the perfect fit for both modes. This adjustability is critical since the effectiveness of both the open-ear experience and the ANC performance depends entirely on positioning.

Adaptive ANC with realistic expectations

In sealed earbud mode, the AeroFit 2 Pro utilizes a six-microphone array and Soundcore’s Adaptive ANC 3.0 system to dynamically adjust noise canceling up to 180 times per second in response to environmental changes. This could be genuinely useful for filtering out consistent background noise—think office HVAC hum or airplane cabin drone—while still allowing for a switch to open mode for conversations or situational awareness.

However, don’t expect flagship-level ANC performance from Sony or Bose. The AeroFit 2 Pro’s design is closer to the AirPods 4 than the AirPods Pro, without silicone or foam tips inserted deep into your ear canal. The seal won’t be as complete, which limits how much passive isolation you’ll get before the ANC even starts working.

The battery life tradeoff

Despite using smaller 11.8mm drivers compared to the original AeroFit Pro’s 16.2mm units, battery life takes a significant hit. The AeroFit 2 Pro offers 7 hours of playback (34 hours with the charging case) in open-ear mode or 5 hours (24 hours with the case) in ANC earbud mode. For comparison, the original AeroFit Pro offered 14 hours standalone and 46 hours with the case.

The smaller drivers and added ANC circuitry are likely responsible for the reduced runtime. Whether that tradeoff is worth it depends on how often you’d actually use the ANC functionality versus just wanting all-day open-ear listening.

Worth the price bump?

The adjustable design is a big plus.

The AeroFit 2 Pro launches January 6th on Soundcore’s website for $179.99—the same price as the original AeroFit 2 at launch. They’ll initially be available in matte black, with gloss white, matte purple, and gloss blue color options coming later.

At the same price point, the AeroFit 2 Pro is the obvious choice over the standard AeroFit 2 if you want the flexibility to switch between open and sealed modes. The question is whether you need that flexibility at all, or if dedicated open-ear buds or traditional ANC earbuds would serve you better.

We’ll have a full review with measurements once we get the AeroFit 2 Pro into the lab with our Bruel & Kjaer 5128 head simulator. In the meantime, check out our full review of the AeroFit 2 to see how the previous generation performed.
