Samsung updates Galaxy Watch 5 Pro with August 2026 security patch
Usually, when Samsung starts rolling out a new security patch to its smartwatches or even smartphones and tablets, for that matter, the brand usually offers it first to the latest or the most premium model in the respective device category. That doesn’t seem to be the case with the August 2026 security patch.
Samsung has started rolling out the August 2026 security patch to its smartwatches, and the first model to which the company is offering it is the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, a four-year-old model. Its latest wearables, including Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch 8, are still awaiting the update.
The August 2026 security patch fixes 56 security issues, making the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro more secure than before. At the moment, Samsung is rolling out the update to the non-cellular variant of the smartwatch in its home country, South Korea. The update is 147.29MB in size and carries version R920XXS2DZG3 (via @Alfaturk16).
We expect Samsung to release the update in other countries over the next few days. You can check for its availability and get it by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your Android phone and going to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
