Samsung’s new Exynos 5G modem for Galaxy S26 has enhanced satellite connectivity

Last week, Samsung unveiled the Exynos 2600, the world’s first 2nm smartphone chip. It is fundamentally different from previous Exynos chips in three ways: a newer fabrication process, an in-house GPU, and no integrated cellular modem. Since it has no integrated modem, it will be paired with an external modem, and Samsung has now revealed that modem.

The Exynos Modem 5410 is Samsung’s newest 5G modem. It is fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s 4nm FinFET process, and the company claims it offers improved power efficiency compared to the previous Exynos modem. It is compatible with both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks and can reach peak download speeds of up to 14.79Gbps. Naturally, it also works with 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.

This new Exynos modem works with three types of satellite communication technologies: LTE DTC, NB-IoT NTN, and NR-NTN.

The Exynos Modem 5410 also features ROM (Root of Trust) based Hybrid PQC for reliable and secure communication. With its Security Processor, it can encrypt data like the IMEI number.

This new Exynos 5G modem will be paired with the Exynos 2600 processor, and they will likely be used in the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+ in select countries globally.
