Elgato is making significant updates to their hardware and software
- Elgato has an updated microphone stand, the Wave Mic Arm MK.2.
- The PC streaming software Wave cast and Wave link 3.0 beta are being released on October 16.
- Voice Focus is no longer tied to Elgato products only.
Elgato has updated its microphone stand with a Mark 2. This updated version eliminates the need to choose between the low-profile arm and the regular overhead arm. It can freely move between overhead and low profile without the use of tools. There aren’t any logos on the arm either. I love this change, as most logos stand out when in frame. The cable management has changed as well. There are no more magnets, but it’s still hidden with some strips that friction-fit into the arm.
Wave Cast and Wave Link 3.0 beta are dropping October 16th. Wave Cast is a dual PC streaming software that sends audio from 1 PC to another. Elgato claims low latency between the 2 devices, which should keep the separate audio in sync. Wave Link is used to adjust individual program sounds for better stream audio. It includes audio effects and much more, however, it is only available if you have Elgato audio products such as the XLR dock or Wave mic. Wave Link seems to have a huge update to the UI when it launches.
Elgato is now selling their “Voice Focus” live noise suppression effect. Originally, Voice focus was only available through Elgato microphones and XLR adaptor. Now you can purchase a license for the launch price of 49.99 USD. Available for download as a VST3 plugin for Windows or an AU plugin on macOS. Thankfully, in the era of subscriptions, Elgato is offering Voice Focus as a lifetime license.
