Apple’s HomePod mini 2 could drop orange and yellow for these new colors

The original HomePod mini made its debut back in November 2020. So, the smart speaker has been around for quite a few years now. But a successor may not be all that far away. A leak has revealed new details about the sequel to the HomePod mini.

The source of this information comes directly from Apple’s own code, spotted by MacRumors. In that code, clear product images of a smart speaker were spotted, which also happen to refer to the product as the “HomePod mini 2.”

It appears Apple will play it safe with the HomePod mini 2’s design, as it’s said to look identical to the original model. Although the design may stay the same, we may, at least, get some new colors.

The leak mentions that Apple’s next smart speaker will be available in five colors: pink, white, green, blue, and black. For comparison, the current HomePod mini comes in yellow, orange, blue, white, and midnight. That means we’re saying hello to pink and green, and goodbye to yellow and orange. The outlet adds that the blue colorway for the HomePod mini 2 is slightly lighter than the blue for the original.

There may have been more information hiding in that code, but MacRumors says it’s not sharing the exact details it found. Regardless, there is one more detail to glean from this leak. The presence of these images in Apple’s code could suggest that a launch may happen in the near future.
