Galaxy Watches getting a time zone update notification plagued by an issue
If you own a Samsung smartwatch running Wear OS, you may soon receive a notification about a time zone update asking you to restart the wearable. However, if you choose to restart it, your Galaxy Watch may not turn back on automatically.
On our Galaxy Watch Ultra in India, we received a notification informing us that the time zone information had been updated and that the smartwatch needed to be restarted to apply the update. It offered two options: “Restart Now” and “Later.”
We tapped “Restart Now.” The wearable then turned off but didn’t turn back on, which was strange. We pressed the power button to turn it on, but that didn’t help. To troubleshoot the issue, we placed the watch on its charger even though its battery was already fully charged, and that caused it to start up.
It’s not just us who received the notification. Samsung’s Community forum is filled with posts from users who received it as well. However, the issue we faced may not occur on every Galaxy Watch model or in every region. Even if you encounter it, placing the watch on its charger should get it to start up again, as it did in our case.
