Audio brand Marshall produces some of the most iconic, nostalgia-invoking (and premium-finish) headphones and home speakers. But in addition to consumer audio products, Marshall is also one of the go-to brands for guitar amplifiers, speaker cabinets, and effects (FX) pedals. Some of these products are also inspired by legendary players who drove the immense admiration that the axe enjoys today, including signature models that pay homage to Slash, Green Day, Lemmy Kilmister, Kerry King, to name a few.
The list obviously remains incomplete without signature models to celebrate virtuoso Jimi Hendrix, without whom modern-day vitals such as overdrive and distortion, or other effects such as fuzz and wah-wah, might never have seen the sheer popularity they enjoy today. Marshall already has a host of products honoring the Voodoo Child (Hendrix himself, not the eponymous song), including a range of home speakers and Bluetooth headphones. Today, the Big M is expanding its Hendrix-inspired catalog with new special edition products, including a pair of Major V headphones, an Emberton portable speaker, and a half-stack amp.
All of these new launches mark the 60th anniversary of Hendrix’s breakthrough rendition of Hey Joe. All the new products come in a psychedelic purple oil paint design that looks like smoke, probably signifying the doyen’s love for the “herb,” and are embellished with silver inserts.
Hendrix 60th Anniversary JMH Studio
The JHM Studio amp is a spin on Marshall’s classic 1959 Studio Vintage amp and cabinet combo. The amp features vacuum tubes for organic analog tones, including a rich overdrive. The head has controllable power output and a flip switch that lets players toggle between 5W and 20W modes.
The cabinet features two 12-inch Celestion V-Type speakers, offering a balanced and wide soundscape for jamming or studio playing. Together, the speakers deliver a 140W output.
Beyond the purple print on plywood-wrapped Tolex, the head features purple beads surrounding silver inserts—knobs, handle, and grille. All the units are assembled by hand in Marshall’s Bletchley factory in the UK.
For this special limited-edition head and cab combo, Marshall wants you to pay $2,499.
Hendrix 60th Anniversary Edition Major V
The special-edition Major V over-the-ear headphones feature a headband and earcups painted with the same purple oil-paint pattern as the amp instead of the rugged black or brown aesthetics. The changes are mostly ornamental, and the special edition gets the same 40mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.3 playback, claimed 100+ hours of playback, and wireless charging support.
The Hendrix Major V is also priced the same as the regular model at $160 and is available on Marshall’s website.
Hendrix 60th Anniversary Edition Emberton III
Like the Major V, the new Hendrix-inspired Emberton III portable speaker‘s novelty is mainly its purple psychedelic imagery, complemented by the all-looking silver eye and purple LEDs for battery life.
The classic-aesthetic portable speaker features the same two 10W full-range drivers and two passive radiators. The speaker also offers a claimed 30+ hours of battery life, 100m Bluetooth connectivity, and an IP67 rating, so you can take it on adventure trails and beach trips or even keep it by the pool.
Its price also remains unchanged at $180 on the official site.
