Beyerdynamic’s new gaming headsets offer 80-hour battery life and an open-back option

- Beyerdynamic has announced the MMX 100 wireless and MMX 130 wireless gaming headsets.
- The MMX 100 uses a closed-back design, while the MMX 130 opts for open-back sound.
- Both offer Bluetooth 6.0, a low-latency USB-C dongle, wired playback, and over 80 hours of stated battery life.
Most wireless gaming headsets take the same basic closed-back approach, but Beyerdynamic’s latest pair gives gamers another option. The company has launched two new MMX models, including an open-back wireless headset aimed at players who’d rather have a more spacious sound than maximum isolation.
The company has announced the MMX 100 wireless and MMX 130 wireless, priced at $149.99 and $179.99, respectively. The cheaper MMX 100 wireless sticks with a closed-back design, which should make more sense if you’re gaming somewhere noisy or don’t want your audio leaking out. The MMX 130 wireless goes open-back instead, with beyerdynamic pitching it as the more spacious, natural-sounding option for games where atmosphere matters as much as hearing someone sneak up behind you.
Both use 40mm drivers, although the MMX 130 wireless adds a titanium coating. Beyerdynamic describes the sound as “studio-grade,” which is the sort of claim we’ll want to test for ourselves, but the two designs should at least give them noticeably different personalities.
You also get plenty of ways to connect. Both models support Bluetooth 6.0, a USB-C wireless dongle, and an analog connection through the included USB-C-to-3.5mm cable. Beyerdynamic claims a latency of under 30ms when you’re using the dongle, so that’s probably the mode you’ll want when quick reactions on the battlefield are all-important.
There’s a detachable microphone on both headsets, along with soft velour ear pads and more than 80 hours of quoted battery life. The battery itself is replaceable, as are the ear pads and headband pads, while the magnetic ear pads should make swapping them out a little less fiddly. The Beyerdynamic app also handles EQ, auto-shutdown, voice assistant, and voice prompt settings.
The MMX 100 wireless goes on sale in September for $149.99, with the MMX 130 wireless following in October for $179.99. Both will be available in Black and Arctic White, and Beyerdynamic is showing the new models at Gamescom 2026 this week.
