Samsung monthly updates: August 2026 security patch gets detailed

Samsung has revealed details of the August 2026 security patch for eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The update fixes a total of 56 security vulnerabilities affecting the company’s phones and tablets, and it could soon be released worldwide.

The August 2026 security patch for Galaxy devices includes 38 fixes for Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) disclosed by Google, along with 18 fixes for Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs). Google’s fixes include eight critical-priority fixes and 30 high-priority fixes. Samsung’s fixes include two high-priority fixes, 14 moderate-priority fixes, and two fixes with undisclosed priority levels.

Nine of Google’s fixes are not included in Samsung’s August 2026 patch. One was already included in Samsung’s July 2026 security update, while the other eight do not apply to Samsung devices.

Most of these security fixes apply to Galaxy phones and tablets running Android 14, Android 15, or Android 16. They address issues related to Samsung’s Contacts, Dialer, Messages, and Galaxy Themes apps. Some fixes also address improper access control, system clipboard data, audio and video codecs, and the cellular radio.
