Samsung updates Galaxy S22 with May 2026 security patch
Samsung’s smartphone software division is currently juggling three major tasks: developing and testing One UI 9.0, while also rolling out One UI 8.5 and the May 2026 security patch. Fortunately, the company appears to be handling all three quite well. As part of the third effort, Samsung has now released the latest security update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The May 2026 security patch fixes 36 security issues, and the update for the Galaxy S22 that brings it is 506.30MB in size and carries firmware version S90xNKSS9GZE5 (via KAILASH61229293). As you might have figured out from the firmware version, the brand is currently rolling it out in its home country, South Korea, with other countries expected to get it in the next few days.
To get the May 2026 security patch on your Galaxy S22, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Speaking of updates for these phones, they are the oldest regular, Plus, and Ultra devices in the Galaxy S series eligible to get Samsung’s latest Android customisation for Galaxy smartphones and tablets, One UI 8.5.
The new software offers a slightly redesigned user interface and many new features, giving these devices a fresh breath of life. Considering that these phones are quite old, Samsung may release it to them at a later stage. It is also worth mentioning that this will be the last major update for these smartphones, and they will not get One UI 9.0.
