
Over 300 million Galaxy devices to receive One UI 8.5 in the coming months
Many Galaxy fans across the globe had been waiting for the stable One UI 8.5 release. Their wait is now over. Starting today, the One UI 8.5 update is rolling out for eligible devices across the globe, and there are quite a few of them.
As the release picks up space, more than 300 million Galaxy devices across the globe are on track to receive the One UI 8.5 update in the coming months.
One UI 8.5 is now available in most markets
Based on Android 16, One UI 8.5 brings a wide variety of new features to Samsung devices. There are several visual improvements, and more customization options, such as the ability to completely personalize the quick panel.
The update also brings the much awaited horizontal lock feature from the Galaxy S26 to the Galaxy S25 series. Several new Galaxy AI features are a part of this update as well. These include AI notification summaries, advanced audio eraser, call screening, and improvements to features like Photo Assist.
Cosmetic changes include the search bar in many Samsung apps being moved to the bottom of the screen for easier access. One UI 8.5 also brings Quick Share to AirDrop compatibility, simplifying cross-platform sharing.
Galaxy device owners in most markets will have already received the One UI 8.5 update notification on their devices. Those that haven’t should expect it to pop up in the very near future.
It’s no small achievement bringing over 300 million devices up to the latest firmware version, and those who have waited for it patiently all this time will certainly be very pleased.
