Surprise! One UI 8.5 beta update for Galaxy A35 is here

Samsung introduced its latest Android customisation for Galaxy smartphones, One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2), by rolling out the beta version to the Galaxy S25 series. Since then, the company has expanded the beta program to several other devices. While it was expected to reach newer and premium models, such as the Galaxy Z, Galaxy S, and premium Galaxy A series phones, the tech giant surprised everyone by extending it to the Galaxy A3x series device as well.

Now, Samsung is taking that surprise a step further by opening the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy A35. The move is particularly unexpected, as the brand typically reserves beta access for newer and upper mid-range devices, and the Galaxy A35 fits neither category. Currently, the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy A35 is live in the company’s home country, South Korea, and India (via Tarun Vats). The update for India is 2,845.38MB in size and carries firmware version A356EXXU8ZZD2.

To enroll your Galaxy A35 in the One UI 8.5 beta program, open the Samsung Members app, find the banner for the beta program of the new software for your device, tap on it, and register your phone for it. Then go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Here, you should see that an update offering One UI 8.5 beta is available for your device. Tap on Install now to get it.

One UI 8.5 brings a new user interface and many new features. You can check out the complete changelog here. Samsung may continue the beta program for a few weeks before rolling out the stable version of the new software to everyone.
