KEF is best known for its high-end home audio gear, but it’s taking another swing at the portable space with the updated Muo. This time around, it promises an outdoor-ready design with “high-fidelity sound that stuns,” which is a bold claim for something this size and price. The KEF Muo leans into a sleek, minimalist design, and it shows the second you unbox it. It looks right at home on a shelf or coffee table, rather than something you might find in a dorm room. You can use the speaker horizontally or stand it vertically, making it easy to fit into different spaces around the house, from your desk to the kitchen counter.

With an IP67 rating and an included lanyard, the KEF Muo is also ready for your next adventure. It’s fairly portable at 740g, especially compared to something like the JBL Charge 6 at 988g, and its slim shape slides easily into a backpack or that side water bottle pocket when you’re heading out.

You get physical controls that sit along the top of the speaker; however, the buttons aren’t backlit and can be hard to distinguish by touch, so using them in darker settings can take some getting used to. Overall, KEF offers a solid set of features in a sleek package, including a built-in microphone for calls and support for audio over USB-C, which adds some flexibility beyond Bluetooth.
