JLab’s giant headphones double as a Bluetooth speaker you wear
- JLab has just unveiled its limited edition Blue XL Speaker Headphones.
- These feature 2.5-inch dynamic drivers and passive radiators, delivering 30W output power.
- The speaker-headphone hybrid is available from JLab’s online store for $99.99.
JLab is famous for its wallet-friendly and feature-rich wireless earbuds. Now, the company has announced a comedically large over-ear headphone-speaker hybrid called the XL Speaker Headphones. These may seem to be an early April Fool’s joke. However, the cans are actually a commemorative, limited edition speaker to celebrate the Birmingham Bowl debut.
Equipped with 2.5-inch dynamic drivers and radiators in each ear cup, this headphone-speaker hybrid delivers a 30-watt power output. These can be worn around your neck using the headband or stood on a table top by inserting one ear cup into the other. We must clarify that we do not recommend wearing this device as over-ear headphones. Remember — prolonged exposure to loud noises can cause noise-induced hearing loss.
JLab claims that the celebration speaker lasts 20 hours per charge cycle. Similarly, the company claims that you can fast-charge the speaker to full capacity in three hours via USB-C. Under the hood is JLab’s signature sound profile with added low-end emphasis. For example, the speaker supports the JLab Signature Sound EQ, which is optimized for vocals and bass.
The device connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.4 over the SBC and AAC codecs. Unfortunately, the speaker does not support wired listening or High-Res Bluetooth codecs. There is also no confirmation regarding Auracast and Multipoint support. Nevertheless, JLab’s enormous speaker-headphone hybrid is available from the company’s online store for $99.99. As the name implies, they are only available in a single Blue color variant. The speaker is in limited supply, so act fast.
