Galaxy S26 display may not bring a brightness boost

According to multiple leaks about Samsung’s next lineup of flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S26 series, all three devices in it — Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra — will feature a new OLED screen from Samsung Display, called M14. These reports also suggested that the new display will offer higher brightness. Well, that may not be the case.

On X, a popular tipster, @UniverseIce, claims that the screens of the Galaxy S26 series phones will offer a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, the same as the Galaxy S25 series devices. The tipster also says that there’s no certainty that these displays will offer other upgrades, such as 10-bit color depth or high-frequency pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming.

However, the tipster says that Samsung Display makes M14 with higher quality materials, and that could offer many benefits, such as higher efficiency, and therefore, lower power consumption, and better reliability in the long run.

The displays of the Galaxy S25 series phones offer brightness much higher than what most people need. That and the anti-reflective properties of the Corning Gorilla Glass Armor make the display a delight to look at. 

In other words, the Galaxy S26 series’s displays not offering a higher brightness isn’t a deal-breaker. However, we hope that the brand equips these screens with 10-bit color depth and PWM dimming for better picture quality.
