If you’re into PC gaming you probably already know at least a little about the Razer DeathAdder Elite. It’s an iconic mouse that has sold over 10 million units now, and for Amazon’s Prime Day event it’s been reduced to a price you simply can’t ignore.

But don’t be put off thinking it’s just for gamers. I’ve been using one for a couple of years, and most of the time I’m using it while I work. I won’t use another mouse, period.

10 million strong

Razer DeathAdder Elite

10 million strong and still one of the best

It’s ergonomic, has a simply amazing sensor and performance and at a price that can’t be ignored. It’s perfect for gamers and non-gamers alike.

Razer’s mantra is “by gamers, for gamers,” but if you’re not one you shouldn’t let it put you off. I like to game, but I spend at least as much time in front of the PC working, probably more, so my choice of mouse and keyboard are two of the most important parts of making sure I have a productive day.

The DeathAdder Elite design hasn’t really changed over the years, which is good, because it doesn’t ever need to. It’s the thing I enjoy most about it. I don’t have particularly large hands, but the ergonomics of the DeathAdder Elite are simply better than any other mouse I’ve ever tried using for a prolonged period. And I have reviewed piles of them.

Everything about this mouse is basically perfect

The size, shape, and weight are essentially perfect, and the mouse just sort of dissolves into the palm of your hand, almost becoming an extension of the hand. It glides across the desk effortlessly, and in those two years of use, to this point, there’s never been a sign of wrist cramps. Before the DeathAdder Elite, I tried a number of different mice and wrist pad combinations trying to find something that was comfortable, but that also didn’t leave me with any undue aches. Nothing worked as well as the DeathAdder.

I love the fact it has a rubber grip on either side and that those rubber grips stand the test of time. Mine haven’t worn or damaged significantly in all the time I’ve been using it.

What also makes it particularly useful is some of the gaming features. One of my favorites is that the Synapse companion app lets you calibrate the mouse to the mousepad you’re using. It’s incredibly accurate, and I’ve found that this and a 3500 DPI on a 1440p monitor gives me exactly the performance I want from my mouse. I always know where my cursor is going to be and when.

Performance like this is important when you’re gaming, but in my world, it’s more important when I’m working. So even if you don’t game at all, this is the mouse to buy right now.
