NETGEAR announced the Nighthawk Mesh WiFi System at CES 2020. The system supports Wi-Fi 6 and can deliver speeds up to 1.8Gbps. There are options to order the system with either one or two satellites depending on the size and layout of your home. The one satellite system ships this month and costs $230. The two satellite system does not have pricing details at the moment but will be available later in Q1 2020.
Wi-Fi mesh systems allow you to extend a Wi-Fi network throughout your home seamlessly. NETGEAR highlights how the Nighthawk Mesh WiFi system allows you to walk throughout your home and jump between mesh points without disconnecting and reconnecting. The system has specialized features, including Dynamic QoS, which automatically prioritizes video and gaming traffic.
The system supports dual-band Wi-Fi with up to 1.8Gbps. It supports Wi-Fi 6, so modern devices with the latest connectivity standards can take full advantage of internet speeds. In addition to wireless networking, the router has two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and the satellites have one Gigabit Ethernet port.
In addition to the Nighthawk Mesh WiFi System, NETGEAR announced the Nighthawk AX6 AX5400 WiFi 6-Stream Router (RAX50) and the NETGEAR AX1800 4-Stream WiFi 6 Mesh Extender. The router supports Gigabit Wi-Fi connectivity and has a 1.5GHz Triple-Core processor. The extender creates a mesh network that extends the reach of your Wi-Fi network. It supports WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and is backward compatible with older routers and devices. The router will be available in Q1 2020, and the extender will be available in Q1 2020 for $150.
