343 Industries’ Head of Consumer Products, John Friend, took to Twitter to let fans know that Halo: Outpost Discovery, a special Halo-themed convention that toured around the United States during the summer of 2019, will not be returning again in 2020.
But we will unsurprisingly be taking a break from touring in Summer 2020 as we focus on preparing Halo Infinite for launch this fall. We’ve got a lot to land as a whole, and my consumer products team has a lot of fun, new things in the pipeline. (3/4)

The reason for this is stated to be the upcoming launch of Halo Infinite, which is a massive project that undoubtedly requires all-hands-on-deck for most of the development studio. I’m sure that the consumer products division has plenty of merchandising to prepare and plan for, so the absence of Halo: Outpost Discovery this year is totally understandable.
Luckily, it sounds like Outpost Discovery will come back sometime down the line, as Friend noted that his team was “excited to do it again.” Considering public reception to the tour was positive overall and that the tickets sold like hotcakes, I would have been shocked if 343 Industries decided not to repeat it in the future. Friend also commented that “We’re actively working now on future plans and new ideas,” so whenever Outpost Discovery does return, it should have plenty of new things for fans to enjoy compared to the first time around.
Halo Infinite is expected to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC during Holiday 2020. If you want to get your hands on some Halo action right now, check out the Master Chief Collection.
