Along with the Galaxy Book Pro, Galaxy Book Pro 360, and the Galaxy Book, Samsung also unveiled its ‘most powerful Galaxy’ laptop ever: the Galaxy Book Odyssey. It is the company’s newest gaming laptop and the first in the world to feature Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU. It also uses Intel’s 11th Gen. Core processors and a wide variety of ports.
Nvidia’s RTX 3050 Ti GPU promises a smooth gaming experience at 1080p resolution
The Galaxy Book Odyssey has a 15.6-inch LCD display with Full HD resolution. It has a traditional form factor with an understated design, but it is relatively thin (at 17.7mm) and lightweight (1.85kg) for a gaming laptop. It comes equipped with Intel’s 11th Gen. Core i5 or i7 CPU and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3050 Max-Q or RTX 3050 Ti Max-Q GPU.
The new GPUs have 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM and they promise a smooth gaming experience at Full HD resolution with a frame rate of more than 60fps. The RTX 3050 Max-Q should offer 60fps or more with Ultra settings, while the RTX 3050 Ti Max-Q should be able to offer more than 70fps at Ultra settings.
Galaxy Book Odyssey has configurable RAM, storage, plenty of ports
The entry-level variant of the Galaxy Book Odyssey has 8GB of DDR4x RAM, while higher-end variants offer 16GB or 32GB RAM, depending on the price. You can also upgrade the entry-level variant’s memory as the laptop comes with one free SO-DIMM slot for additional RAM. Samsung is offering up to 1TB of SSD storage, and the Galaxy Book Odyssey comes with two PCIe NVMe SSD slots. It means that you can easily upgrade the storage. The laptop runs Windows 10 Home, but it can be configured to run Windows 10 Pro.
Other features of the Galaxy Book Odyssey include a pro-grade keyboard, a large trackpad with Windows Precision drivers, a fingerprint reader embedded into the power button, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos audio, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2×2 MIMO), and Bluetooth 5.1. The laptop features plenty of ports, including a gigabit ethernet port, an HDMI port, three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, two USB Type-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. The laptop can easily share your Galaxy Buds wireless earphones from your Galaxy smartphone or tablet.
Galaxy Book Odyssey has a big battery and a speedy USB-C charger
Samsung has decided to power the Galaxy Book Odyssey with an 83Wh battery, which is quite big, but there are gaming laptops from other brands that come with up to 99Wh batteries. The new gaming laptop from Samsung also comes with a whopping 135W USB Type-C charger, a rare phenomenon among laptops of any kind. In comparison, most other laptop brands offer as high as 100W chargers. It means that the Galaxy Book Odyssey’s battery can get charged pretty quickly with the bundled charger.
The Galaxy Book Odyssey will go on sale in August for the starting price of $1,399.
