The latest Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond Light, has officially released on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Windows 10 PCs (through Steam). It costs $40, but you can also get access to it through Xbox Game Pass.

In terms of what is offered in the expansion, players will be able to explore a new location: the moon of Europa, which is a frozen wasteland that looks to be infested by both the Fallen and the Vex. The Fallen in particular are very dangerous, as they’re being led by the Fallen Kell of Darkness Eramis. Eramis is weaponizing the Darkness and using it against the Guardians, so the story of the expansion will see us take her and her armies down. Eramis isn’t the only one who gets to wield the Darkness, though, as players who purchase the expansion will get access to Stasis, a special new elemental Darkness subclass that’s focused on crowd-control through slowing and freezing enemies. These subclasses are also very customizable, as you can find objects called Aspects and Fragments that alter how your abilities perform in interesting ways. There are plenty of new weapons and armors that have arrived with the expansion as well, and many of them are Exotics.

Of course, one of the most exciting things about new Destiny expansions are the raids, and Beyond Light is no different. Come November 21, access to a raid set in the Deep Stone Crypt will be given to all players. Since this is where all Exos are supposedly created, it will be interesting to see how this raid ties into the wider universe of Destiny.

Though it isn’t exclusive to Beyond Light, it’s worth noting that Bungie has completely overhauled the tutorial experience of Destiny 2 alongside the arrival of the expansion. New players will now begin the game in the Cosmodrome (a prominent location from the first Destiny) and will be tasked to work with Shaw Han, a Guardian investigating Hive activity in the area. Han and his quest introduces new players to the various game systems of Destiny 2.

What do you think of everything on offer with Beyond Light? Will you be picking up this new expansion? Let us know.
