What you need to know

  • Shenmue III was listed for preorder for Xbox One on the game’s website.
  • This listing was pulled, but images still remained in the website’s directory.
  • A lot of users noticed this on ResetEra and other platforms.
  • An official announcement of the Xbox One port may be coming at E3 2019.

Updated June 7, 2019: The Xbox One logo has been removed from the preorder page and Deep Silver says the listing was an error. There is no planned version of Shenmue III on Xbox One at the moment.

Shenmue III has been in development for quite some time, and the game keeps on getting delayed. It was supposed to launch in August 2019, but has now been pushed back to November. When Shenmue III was first revealed, the game was publicized as a PlayStation 4 and PC exclusive. New information — from the game’s website — suggests that it’s also coming to Xbox One.

Today, the Shenmue III preorder page briefly changed to allow for an Xbox One preorder. Numerous gamers across Facebook, ResetEra, and Twitter managed to capture screenshots. You can take a look at one of them below.

As with any such leak, take it with a grain of salt until we receive official confirmation. The image can still be seen in the website’s directory. Unless this is some elaborate hoax by hackers, or an honest mistake by the website creator, it seems that Shenmue III is on its way to Xbox One.

The game continues the story of revenge and supernatural forces. This time around it looks like there’s a greater focus on the relationship between the characters. It also seems like Ryo Hazuki is going to be able to take on Lan Di after all this time. Hopefully Shenmue III will be a polished experience when it launches next year. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the game. However, don’t expect it to be the definitive, concluding chapter in the saga. Yu Suzuki plans on making more Shenmue games down the line.
